It was in his junior year that Heaphy’s scoring prowess came to the fore. In amassing 40 goals over the season, he led the team to a 5-4 record, and scored seven or more goals in three consecutive games.

At the conclusion of the season, his 40 goals ranked him fourth in the nation in scoring and first in the nation in goals per game. As a result, he was chosen All-New England and honorable mention All-America.

Following his senior year, Heaphy was again chosen All-New England and honorable mention All-America. His performance was recognized at the national level, and he was selected to play in the North-South All-Star game.
