Freddie Maguire was a four-year letterwinner on the Holy Cross baseball team from 1919-1922.
He helped lead the team to an overall record of 95-12-1 during his career, including Eastern Championships in 1919 and 1921.
Maguire earned first team All-Eastern honors at second base in 1919, while batting .368 with six doubles, six triples and four home runs in 1921.
Following his graduation, he signed with the New York Giants. Maguire went on to play six seasons in the major leagues with the Giants, Chicago Cubs and Boston Braves. He led the National League in putouts and assists during the 1928 season, and finished his career with a .257 batting average.
Maguire passed away in 1961.
