Rick Comeau was a standout middle distance runner for the Holy Cross men’s track and field team from 1970-1973.

An All-Yankee Conference selection during both his junior and senior years, Comeau set a school indoor record in the 600-yard run (1:10.6) while winning the 1972 Yankee Conference title in that event. He was also the 1972 Yankee Conference outdoor champion in the 440-yard run.

Comeau won New England championships in the outdoor 440-yard run as a sophomore in 1971 and the indoor 600-yard run as a senior in 1973. He also finished second in New England in the outdoor 440 in 1972 and the indoor 600 in 1971, and was named All-New England during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

An NCAA qualifier in the 440-yard run, 600-yard run and 880-yard runs, Comeau won the 1973 U.S. Track and Field Federation Eastern Championship in the indoor 600-yard run as a senior (1:11.9). In addition, his time of 58.5 seconds in the 500-yard dash at the Millrose Games was the second-fastest in school history.

At the end of his collegiate career, Comeau received the John A. Meegan Athletic Achievement Award from the Varsity Club as a senior.
