Janet Hourihan competed on Crusader teams which compiled an overall record of 81-27, including an EAIAW championship, a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship and a 1985 bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Hourihan was the first player in the history over women’s basketball program to record over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. At the time of her graduation, she was the Crusaders’ all-time leader in rebounds (1,178) while ranking second in points (1,909).

A three-time first team All-MAAC selection, Hourihan was named both the New England Player of the Year and the MAAC Player of the Year in 1985. She was also the Most Valuable Player of the 1985 MAAC Tournament, while leading Holy Cross to the title to secure its first NCAA Tournament berth.
