Jim Bowman entered Holy Cross in 1934 with an outstanding football record as a high school standout in New Haven, Conn.

He was a great center on two undefeated Crusader teams. Bowman was exceptional on offense in passing the ball back and on defense as a roving center who backed up the line. The three teams that he played posted an overall record of 24-2-4.

After graduation he joined other college greats who played a number of games in Europe under Fordham Coach Jim Crowley.

Bowman went on to be one of the founders of the Holy Cross Varsity Club and its first president.
