Hailing from Brockton, Mass., Pete Colombo was the starting quarterback for Holy Cross in 1977 and led the Crusaders to a 35-20 upset win over Boston College. He was chosen as co-winner of the O'Meila Award for his efforts in that game. He was also selected as winner of the Turco Award that season as the MVP of the Homecoming game.

As a senior in 1978, Colombo led his teammates to a 5-0 early season record, including a stunning road upset of Air Force.

He wound up his career again quarterbacking Holy Cross over Boston College, this time by a 30-29 score in Chestnut Hill, and was chosen as the Davitt Award winner at the 1979 Hall of Fame dinner.

As a second baseman and shortstop on Jack Whalen's baseball team, Colombo was the leadoff hitter and sparkplug of the 1976-1979 teams, which compiled an overall record of 74 wins, 58 losses and 3 ties, including the 1978 squad which qualified for the NCAA regionals. A captain of the 1979 team, Colombo finished his career with 102 hits and 111 bases on balls over his four-year career.
