Peter Naton was an outstanding catcher on the Holy Cross baseball team from 1951-1953.
During the 1952 season, he caught every inning of every game as the team posted a 23-3 record and won the College World Series. Naton was a leader on the field and because of his take charge ability, every starting pitcher went the entire nine innings during the Crusaders’ seven games in Omaha.
A great defensive catcher with an accurate arm, Naton hit .340 during the 1952 season and led the team with 27 runs batted in.
During his three years as a starting catcher, Holy Cross posted an overall record of 46-11. He was named first team All-East, first team All-New England and honorable mention All-America.
After graduation, Naton played in the major leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He passed away in 2013.
