Charles Brucato was an outstanding athlete at Milford High School and Dean Academy, and was elected to the Dean Academy Hall of Fame.

In football, he gained All-East recognition as a halfback in 1936, in addition to being a key factor on the 1935 undefeated team.

Brucato was also the regular second baseman on the diamond for three years and served as team captain in 1938. He led the team in batting, runs batted in, home runs and stolen bases, with his teams posting a combined record of 51-9-1.

Brucato went on to play professional ball for several years, and also was an assistant principal and coach at Milford High.

An officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946, Brucato was a veteran of four campaigns. He was awarded the Purple Heart and later served as a major in USMC Reserves.
