Dave Stenhouse was chosen ECAC Rookie of the Year following his freshman year at Holy Cross, after batting .350 and placing seventh nationally in doubles (13 in 28 games), as the Crusaders won 21 and lost but 9 games.
During his sophomore year, he led the nation in batting with a .480 average. Stenhouse was chosen first team All-ECAC, first team All-New England and third team All-America for his efforts that season.
On April 8, 1981, he hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to edge Brown 6-5, defeating a Bruins club coached by his father, an ex-major league pitcher.
Stenhouse batted .349 during as a junior and was again chosen All-New England and All-ECAC.
Following his junior season, Stenhouse signed a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
