Joe Segreti was a star tailback on the Holy Cross football team from 1987-1990.

He took over as a full-time starter in 1988, rushing for 1,187 yards and 16 touchdowns while being selected as the most valuable player of both the Homecoming game (Turco Award) and the Family Weekend game (Anderson Award).

As a junior in 1989, Segreti ran for 1,099 yards and 12 touchdowns, while winning a second Anderson Award after rushing for 111 yards on 23 carries against Colgate.

During his senior season in 1990, he carried the ball 228 times for 1,143 yards and eight scores, while becoming the first two-time winner of the Turco Award.

Segreti earned first team All-America and Patriot League Player of the Year honors in 1990, while being a three-time first team All-New England and All-Patriot League selection. He was also the first three-time winner of the Davitt Award as the team’s outstanding back.

Segreti graduated as Holy Cross’ second all-time leading rusher (3,461 yards), while setting program records for career rushing touchdowns (37) and career 100-yard games (20).

The teams he played on posted an overall record of 39-4-1, while winning three Patriot League championships and being named ECAC Team of the Year twice.
