In the 1921 Boston College game, Simendinger’s great blocking of Eagles’ great Bill Heaphy led the way for a 41-0 Holy Cross victory. He also had a tremendous game in the Crusaders’ 1922 victory over a favored Georgetown team in Washington (10-0).
In baseball, Simendinger made a spectacular debut as a freshman, hitting two homers and a double against Dartmouth in the opener. He became known as the Babe Ruth of the Eastern Collegiate ranks, while leading Holy Cross to Eastern Collegiate championships in 1921, 1923 and 1924.
