Jim Moran was a three-year starter on the Holy Cross football team in the mid-1930s.

The Crusaders went 21-6-2 during his career and he was mentioned for All-East and All-America honors.

Following his graduation, he spent two years playing for the Boston Redskins in the National Football League.

Moran later joined the Navy during World War II, and served as the head football coach at the University of South Carolina in 1943 while he was stationed there. The Gamecocks went 5-2 during the 1943 season.

After the war, Moran spent three seasons as the head coach at Niagara University from 1946-1948, before returning to Holy Cross as the line coach in 1949.

He passed away in 1983.
