Hall of Fame
Brian Reale was a two-sport phenom for the Crusaders.
In basketball, he was a four-year starter and a 1,000-point scorer who finished 20th on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,123 points. A two-year team captain, he earned second team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference honors as a senior, when he also received the Richard J. Maloney Memorial Trophy.
Drafted by the major leagues while still in high school, Reale brought the Holy Cross baseball team a tremendous presence at shortstop, where he started for three consecutive seasons. He earned All-MAAC honors in 1985 and was selected to the All-ECAC team in 1986. Reale finished his career with a .527 slugging percentage, the third-best mark in school history at the time.
During his senior season, he led Holy Cross to an 11-4 conference record and a trip to the ECAC Tournament, where he went six-for-11 (.545) with eight put-outs and 16 assists.
