Hall of Fame
Buzz Harvey was captain of the 1934 football team and also played varsity baseball for three years.
He played on some of the greatest football team in Crusader history as a two-way tackle. In his three varsity football years, Holy Cross compiled an overall record of 21-6-2, including an 8-2 mark when he was a senior. Three times he was selected to the All-East team, and he also earned All-America mention as a junior.
Harvey was good enough in baseball to get a tryout with the Philadelphia Phillies, and he signed with the New York Giants football organization upon graduation. He passed up the chance to play to enter coaching.
He coached at Northbridge and Saugus High Schools before moving onto Nashua (N.H.) High School in 1941. He won over 200 games and 11 state championships at Nashua, and later served as the school’s athletic director.
Harvey passed away in 1987.
