As a freshman, he was a part of the Crusaders’ 1947 NCAA Championship team that went 27-3 overall with a 23-game winning streak to end the season. Laska scored 167 points that year, the fourth-most on the team.

In his sophomore season, the team went 26-4 and again made the NCAA Final Four, where they lost to Kentucky before defeating Kansas State to finish third nationally.

After going 19-8 during Laska’s junior season, Holy Cross compiled a 27-4 record in his senior year and returned to the NCAA Tournament. He finished his final season with 253 points, including 12 games in double figures and three 20-point performances.

From 1952-1967, Laska was the head basketball coach at Assumption College, posting an overall record of 224-96. He also served as the director of athletics at Assumption from 1956-1986, and the gymnasium at Assumption was named in his honor.
