Peter Noonan teamed with Andy Coakley to form one of the all-time great batteries in the history of the Holy Cross baseball program.
Noonan first made the Crusader varsity while still a Prep School student. As the team’s regular catcher, he led Holy Cross in batting in 1901, 1902, 1903 and 1904.
After being captain of the 1904 team, Noonan signed with the Philadelphia Athletics. He went on to play in 162 major league games from 1904-1907 with the Athletics, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.
He was manager of the Roosevelt Hotel in New York for many years following his retirement from professional baseball.
Noonan passed away in 1965.
