Hall of Fame
Kris Shields was a standout center for the Holy Cross women’s basketball team from 1987-1991.
She earned second team All-Patriot League honors as a senior, after being a second team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference selection as a junior.
Shields totaled 1,201 points and 715 rebounds during her collegiate career, and ranked second in school history with a career field goal percentage of .563 (413 of 733).
During her sophomore year, she hit the game-winning free throw with one second remaining to give the Crusaders an 82-81 victory over La Salle in the MAAC championship game.
Then as a senior, Shields led Holy Cross to the Patriot League championship before posting 19 points and 12 rebounds in an 81-74 win over Maryland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
In 2013, she was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
