Glenn Verrette was one of Holy Cross’ most successful student-athletes during the late 1970s. He was not only a four-year starter at safety, he also started in left field on the baseball diamond for three years.

Verrette ranked fifth in the nation with seven interceptions in 1978, a mark which remains tied for the eighth-best single-season performance in school history. His 15 career interceptions ranked second in school history at the time of his graduation, and are still the fifth-most ever by a Crusader.

Verrette received the O’Melia Award following the 1978 Boston College game, after totaling 18 tackles, two interceptions and breaking up a two-point conversion pass in the final minute to secure a 30-29 Holy Cross victory.

A first team All-New England selection in both 1978 and 1979, he also took home first team All-ECAC honors as a junior. In addition, Verrette was a two-time recipient of the Davitt Award as the team’s top defensive back.
