Skip O’Connor came to Holy Cross to assist Tom Duffy as track coach in the 1960s and ascended to the head coach’s position upon Duffy’s retirement.
He was instrumental in building the Crusaders’ outstanding teams of the 1960s and 1970s. During that time, he prepared numerous New England Champions and All-Americans for success.
O’Connor’s reputation led to many international invitations to help develop track programs, and the associations that he made in his travels benefited Holy Cross for years.
Even after his retirement, he continued to offer valuable counsel to Crusader coaches and athletes.
