David Leonard was a starting pitcher on the Holy Cross baseball team from 1988-1991, serving as team captain during his junior and senior seasons.
He led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 1.27 earned run average during his sophomore year in 1989, and again with a 1.86 earned run average as a junior in 1990.
During his senior season in 1991, Leonard then posted a 7-3 record and ranked second in the Patriot League with a 1.91 earned run average.
He finished his career with an overall record of 18-12, a school-record 2.20 earned run average, 20 complete games and 160 strikeouts.
Leonard was named All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 1989 and 1990, while earning All-Patriot League honors in 1991.
He was also selected All-New England, All-ECAC, Academic All-MAAC and Academic All-District during his collegiate career, while being a two-time winner of the Hop Riopel Award as the team’s most valuable player.
