DeAngelis participated in varsity baseball from 1966-70 under coach Bob Curran. He was a team player and supported the Crusaders with a fine glove as an outfielder and first baseman as well as with his clutch cleanup hitting.

As a result of his stellar performances on the baseball diamond, DeAngelis was a two-time first team All-New England selection in 1968 and 1970, and was chosen to the All-Tournament team at the 1970 Florida State Invitational after batting .350 over a six-game span.

Excelling in the classroom as well, DeAngelis was only the second Crusader, and first Holy Cross baseball player, to be named an Academic All-American.

Graduating cum laude, he was presented with the Lawlor Medal at commencement.
