Holy Cross Athletics

Gus Cervini was one of the greatest lineman whoever wore the purple of Holy Cross. It is unusual for an interior lineman to get the recognition he deserves for his superior play, but Cervini stood out. His great blocks in the line and downfield were obvious to all as the reason for his team's offensive success.

He was a devastating blocker, and his ferocious defense resulted in many big plays that kept the opposing team off the scoreboard. He was rewarded for his efforts by being named All-New England, All-East and All-America after his senior season.

Cervini also was an excellent player on the basketball team for three years. He was a teacher at Holy Cross and a member of its coaching staff in football for several years.
