Garry Witts was a star member of the Holy Cross men’s basketball team in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Witts helped the Crusaders to the ECAC Championship title and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 1980, along with trips to the National Invitation Tournament in 1979 and 1981. He earned NABC All-District honors following his senior year.
At the time of his graduation, Witts had the best career field goal percentage in school history (54.0 percent, 546 of 1,011). In addition, his 1,397 career points scored were the ninth-most in program history when he graduated.
Witts was drafted by the Washington Bullets in 1981, and went on to play 46 games during his rookie season in 1981-1982.
