An exceptional athlete and outstanding student, Frank Oftring played basketball for four years on teams which compiled a 99-19 record and completed in three NCAA tournaments.
He played on the Holy Cross team of 1946-1947 that won the NCAA championship and was co-captain of the 1949-1950 team.
In his freshman and senior years, Oftring helped Holy Cross to a pair of 27-win seasons, good for the most victories in program history.
He was the head basketball coach at Holy Cross from 1961-1965 and his teams going 64-33 overall.
While an undergraduate Oftring was junior class treasurer, senior class president and a member of the Dean’s list all four years.
