Bob Foley was a key member of the Crusaders’ outstanding men’s basketball teams in the early 1960s.

An undersized center at just 6’3”, he averaged 10.8 points and 7.8 rebounds as a senior captain in 1962-1963. Holy Cross posted an overall record of 58-20 during Foley’s three seasons on the varsity team, while advancing to the National Invitation Tournament in both his sophomore and junior seasons.

During the 1961-1962 campaign, he scored a career-high 21 points while matched up against Colorado State All-American Bill Green in the NIT, and held Seton Hall leading scorer Nick Werkman to just two first half points in a 111-84 Crusader victory.

Following his graduation, Foley went on to become a successful basketball coach at Uxbridge High School, St. Peter-Marian High School and St. John’s High School. He is the all-time winningest coach in Massachusetts boys’ basketball history with more than 800 victories in over 50 years as a head coach, and was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
