Tom Greene was an outstanding football and lacrosse star who was named All-New England in both sports. While more well known for his football heroics, he also excelled in his other sport.

In lacrosse, he played in the North-South game and helped the Crusaders to a 7-3 record in 1958, the first year lacrosse was recognized as a varsity sport.

He won the O’Melia Award as a sophomore after directing Holy Cross to a 7-0 victory over Boston College. Greene was among the nation’s leaders in total offense for three years, and was on the cover of the 1958 NCAA guide, the first player in the East to have that honor. He also won the Frazier Trophy twice, as the out-standing player in two straight wins over Syracuse.

He played for the Boston Patriots in 1960 as the franchise’s first starting quarterback, and for the Dallas Texans in 1961.
