The younger brother of Bill Osmanski, Joe Osmanski demonstrated great prowess as a Crusader ball carrier, blocker and tackler.
Osmanski had one of his greatest days against a strong Carnegie Tech team, which had gained the reputation of a powerful defensive squad after holding Notre Dame to just seven points. Osmanski raced through Carnegie Tech on runs of 46 and 24 yards to lead the Crusaders to a convincing 21-0 triumph in 1939.
He was also instrumental in wins over Georgia, Brown, Colgate, NYU and Boston College.
In addition to his prowess on the gridiram, Osmanski also played baseball at Holy Cross, helping the squad to an overall record of 39-10-1 from 1939-1941.
After graduation he played for the Chicago Bears and the New York Bulldogs in the National Football League.
He passed away in 1993.
