Gill Fenerty had a storybook prep career at Jesuit High School in New Orleans, and arrived on Mount St. James after spending his freshman season at Louisiana State. He was a threat to score from anywhere on the field every time he carried the ball.

Fenerty graduated as the all-time leading rusher in both Holy Cross and New England history with 3,670 career rushing yards.

He also broke school records for the most touchdowns in a game (six), most rushing yards in a game (337) and most games with over 200 rushing yards (on three occasions).

Named All-New England and All-East each of his three seasons, Fenerty was a first team All-American as a senior, after being a third team honoree during his sophomore and junior years. He also received the Davitt Award from the Varsity Club in 1983 and 1985.

Fenerty went on to play several years in the National Football League and the Canadian Football League.
