A three-sport star in high school, Dean Casagrande was the leading scorer for four years on the Holy Cross soccer team. He totaled 27 goals and 15 assists for 69 points during his collegiate career, and was the leading scorer in the history of the program at the time of his graduation. His efforts were rewarded following his senior season when he was nominated for the East-West All-Star game.

On the diamond as the regular second baseman, Casagrande hit .310 as a junior with a .925 fielding average. In his senior season he batted .275 and upped his field percentage to .945.

Our inductee also served as a goalie in ice hockey, competing on teams which had an overall record of 71-51-4.

The first two-sport nominee to the Academic All-American squad since Ronnie Perry, Casagrande was a two-year recipient of the Hurley Scholarship given to an outstanding scholar-athlete, and was named Crusader of the Year by the Varsity Club in 1983.
