Bill Doran entered Holy Cross after becoming the all-time leading scorer in basketball at West Essex High School.

He played four years of basketball at Holy Cross as a starter and as the East’s most feared sixth man.  At the time of his graduation, he was the ninth all-time scorer in Crusader history with 1,268 points. He helped the team to two Madison Square Garden titles, an ECAC Regional title and a Colonial Classic championship.

A two-year captain in basketball, Doran also served as captain of the baseball team during his senior year.  A star third baseman, he set the school single-season record for hits during his junior year.

An Academic All-American who received an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, Doran was named the Crusader of the Year in 1977.
