Bill Casey did not have to travel far to arrive at Holy Cross. The Worcester native was an All-Star performer at former South High School in basketball, baseball and football.

Casey concentrated on basketball at Holy Cross and in those early years of basketball on the Hill, his scoring ability, ball handling skills and tenacious defense insured him a place on the list of all-time Holy Cross greats.  He played varsity basketball for four years and captained the 1908-09 team.

He returned later to coach Holy Cross basketball from 1920 through 1924. Casey coached the only undefeated Holy Cross basketball team, the 1920-21 team that played two games and won both. His 1921-22 team, captained by Dinny McLaughlin had a 15-3 record. Players he coached included Bill Horan, Hop Riopel and Owen Carroll.

Casey taught at North Adams and later coached basketball at South High for six years.
