Holy Cross Athletics

Billy Wise was a three-sport star at Holy Cross in football, baseball and basketball.

A star quarterback on the football team, Wise led the Crusaders to their first-ever victory over Harvard in 1925 and a come-from-behind victory over the Crimson in 1926.

A great field general who was excellent as a runner, passer and punter, Wise served as the football team captain in 1926.

After graduation, Wise went into the teaching and coaching, with his Springfield Cathedral High School teams being among the best in the state for years.

Wise passed away in 1981.
