Holy Cross Athletics

A Central Massachusetts All-Star at St. John's High School in Shrewsbury, John Andreoli entered Holy Cross in the fall of 1978.

He was a three-year starter at defensive end and linebacker, and competed on teams which accumulated an overall record of 21 wins and 23 losses against the cream of the cro' of Eastern Division I-A football.

Andreoli was instrumental in the win over Harvard in 1981 when he blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown which provided the winning margin.

He reached his peak on the 1981 squad which he co-captained, as he was chosen first team All-New England, first team All-ECAC and honorable mention All-East.

Following his graduation, Andreoli enjoyed a professional football career and was featured on a Wheaties box as a member of the New England Patriots.

He was also selected as Crusader of the Year by the Varsity Club in 1982.
