An outstanding football and baseball player at Woburn High School, Tony Colucci gained fame at Holy Cross as one of the Grand Opera Twins with teammate Jim Cavalieri.

Colucci excelled in blocking tacklers who outweighed him, turning ball carriers in toward the center of the field covering kicks and as a pass receiver. A great Brown team could not get around his end, and he led the Crusaders to that 33-0 win. Against the 1930 Harvard team, he ran 50 yards with a pass reception and he paved the way for a 27-0 win for the Crusaders.

In baseball, he was a fine outfielder and good hitter who was the key player in a last inning win over Boston College in 1931.

Tony was an outstanding student, and after graduation, became the supervisor of the Quincy Shipyard Apprentice School.
