Chet Millet is one of the finest football lineman ever produced at Holy Cross, playing three seasons for the Crusaders in the early 1950s.
Millett was a two-way guard as a sophomore and junior and played just offense as a senior. He won All-New England, All-East and All America honors in 1951 and again in 1952.
In 1952, Millett won the Matthew Golden Memorial Award as the outstanding Catholic college player in the country, presented by the Fathers Guild and Alumni of Brooklyn, N.Y. He also played in the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
Millett spent two years in the Marines and coached a six-man football team in Korea to an 8-1 record in 1954. He received his master’s degree in guidance from Boston University in 1956. He went on to have a long career as an educator and coach, while leading Brockton High School to Class A state championships in 1959 and 1960.
