Ken Desmarais was considered by Coach Eddie Anderson to be as great a lineman as he had ever coached, and was noted for his tackling ability and accuracy in snapping the ball as a center.

After starting his career at guard, he converted to center and was named to the Catholic All-America and Associated Press honorable mention All-America teams.

Desmarais was selected to play in the Senior Bowl, where he started at center, and was the first winner of the Davitt Award as the team’s top lineman.

After graduation, he was drafted by both the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys.
