Charlie Kickham was not a great athlete at Holy Cross, but few men have done more for alma mater, especially in athletics.

He was a member of two strong track teams for the Crusaders in 1922 and 1923, and worked untiringly in athletic recruiting and for the betterment of Holy Cross’ athletic program for over 50 years.

Kickham was a member of the Varsity Club’s Executive Committee and a Class Agent, in addition to teaming with Clem McCann to originate the O’Melia Award and dinner.

He served as chairman of the 1970 Hall of Fame dinner and was named one of the college’s six most outstanding class fund raisers.

Kickham graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1927 and was awarded an honorary doctor of science degree from Holy Cross in 1958.
