• The Lead: The Crusaders turned in a number of strong performances on the final day of the Patriot League Championship Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In the 60 m hurdle finals, freshman Brandon Thornhill (Natick, Mass.) placed seventh with a time of 8.39.
• Senior Kalif Raymond (Lawrenceville, Ga.) finished sixth in the 60 m dash finals, earning an IC4A qualifying time of 6.96.
• Sophomore Nicholas Boire (Manchester, N.H.) came in 12th in the 400 m dash with a time of 50.63.
• In the 500 m dash, junior Benjamin Ghiano (Iselin, N.J.) set a time of 1:07.18 to place 13th overall.
• Senior Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.) earned an IC4A qualifying time of 1:51.47 in the 800 m run to place third.
• In the 1000 m run, junior Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) finished fourth with an IC4A qualifying time of 2:26.69.
• The squad of Ghiano, sophomore Bryan Gallagher (Littleton, Mass.), senior Matt Luizzi (Albany, N.Y.) and senior Chris Conley (Walpole, Mass.) placed eighth in the distance medley with a time of 10:26.53.
• In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Thornhill, Boire, sophomore James Donohue (Bronxville, N.Y.) and junior William Ward (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed seventh with a time of 3:23.72.
• Senior Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) set a mark of 4.35 m to place 13th, while junior Michael Araujo (Southbridge, Mass.) came in 16th at 4.05 m.
• Junior Nick Piker (Westmont, Ill.) earned a distance of 15.13 m in the shot put to finish eighth overall.

THE TURNPIKE TROPHY:

• This was the first ever men's track and field meet in the Turnpike Trophy competition.
• Boston University earned the point by placing in front of the Crusaders as the Terriers were second and Holy Cross was sixth.
• This athletic series between the in-state Patriot League rivals awards points for all head-to-head victories in both the regular season and postseason, with the Turnpike Trophy going to the school that accumulates the most points at the end of the academic year.
• Boston University holds a 9-2 lead in the season series. The Turnpike Trophy competition continues on Feb. 27 with the men's and women's basketball. For the schedule of the Turnpike Trophy games go here.
