THE BASICS

The Lead: Sophomores John Bentivegna (Staten Island, N.Y.), Kyle Quinn (North Andover, Mass.), William Raven (Newburyport, Mass.) and Kyle Cunningham (Wilmington, Mass.) set new career-best numbers in their respective events as the Holy Cross men's track and field team fell to New Hampshire 233-199 on Saturday afternoon at the Paul Sweet Oval through 17 events. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

•  In the 55 meter dash, senior Vuong Tran (Worcester, Mass.) and senior co-captain Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) took the top two spots, finishing with times of 6.66 and 6.78, respectively. 
•  Galasso also finished second in the 200 meter dash, clocking a time of 23.49. 
•  Freshman Nicholas Boire (Manchester, N.H.) finished fourth in the 400 meter run at 53.28 with junior Dominic Abacherli (Boxborough, Mass.) followed in fifth at 53.31. 
• The 500 meter run saw junior Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.) clock a first-place finish at 1:07.54 with sophomore William Ward (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished third with a time of 1:08.30. 
• Senior co-captain Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) finished second in the 800 meter run at 2:32.80.
• In the one mile run, sophomore Michael Andre (Feeding Hills, Mass.) placed third at 4:28.57 with senior Jake Griffin (Billerica, Mass.) taking fourth at 4:33.27. 
• Junior Dennis Muldoon (Weymouth, Mass.) crossed the finish line in first in the 3,000 meter run at 8.44.23 with Bentivegna following in fifth, setting a new-career best time of 9:02.09. 
• In the 55 meter hurdles, freshman Josh Nickerson (Danvers, Mass.) finished fourth at 8.55 as Raven followed in fifth place and setting a new career-best time at 8.57 seconds. 
• Both the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay teams had second place finishes. 
• The 4 x 400 relay team made up of Keefer, Andrew, junior Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Ward finished second with a time of 3:32.25 as the 4 x 800 relay team comprised of sophomores Edward DeLuca (Weymouth, Mass.) and Benjamin Ghiano (Iselin, N.J.) and freshmen Bryan Gallagher (Littleton, Mass.) and Thomas Kalantzakos (Andover, Mass.) finished with a time of 8.38.23.
• In the field events, Nickerson cleared a height of 1.80 meters in the high jump, taking second, as Quinn set a career-best height of 1.74 and a fourth-place finish.
• Quinn also placed fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.96 meters with junior Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) finishing third with a height of 4.11 meters. 
• In the long jump, Nickerson cleared a distance of 6.00 meters as sophomore Fletcher Bonin (Portsmouth, R.I.) followed in third (5.84 meters). 
• Bonin also finished second in the triple jump at 12.05 meters with freshman Ambrose DeMarco following in third with a distance of 11.78 meters. 
• Senior Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) threw for a distance of 11.21 meters in the shot put as freshman Myles O'Brien (North Easton, Mass.) followed in seventh with a distance of 10.22 meters. 
• Carey also finished third in the weight throw, registering a distance of 15.24 meters as Cunningham set a new career-best distance of 11.17 meters and a ninth place finish.

• The Crusaders return to the track on Friday, Jan. 23 as they head to Roxbury, Mass. to compete in the Joe Donahue Games.
