Senior cornerback Matt Duchemin of the Holy Cross football team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for action from Oct. 23 to 29.Â
Duchemin's 68-yard pick-six helped seal a gritty 49-47 victory for Holy Cross over Fordham on Saturday, Oct. 28. With Holy Cross clinging on to a 42-41 lead in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, Duchemin picked off Rams quarterback C.J. Montes — the first interception Montes has thrown all year, and the first interception of Duchemin's career — and returned the ball 68 yards to the end zone to help Holy Cross take a 49-41 lead with 5 minutes to go.
Fordham would go on to score on its final drive before its two-point attempt failed, preserving the 49-47 win for Holy Cross.
Duchemin also recorded a career-high five tackles on the day.
The No. 21 Crusaders (5-3, 3-1 Patriot League) return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4. Kickoff in Bethlehem, Pa., is set for 12 p.m.
