Holy Cross Athletics

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward Millie Sirum of the Holy Cross women's hockey  team has been selected as the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for Oct. 9 – Oct. 15. 

Sirum scored both goals for the Crusaders to lead them to their first win of the season. Holy Cross was slated to take on Brown in a two game series over the weekend and dropped the first game of the set 3-2 in overtime. The Crusaders came back fired up for game two hoping to add a win to their record.

Holy Cross was down 1-0 early with a Brown goal scored in the first period. After a scoreless second period the Crusaders needed to get a goal on the board with the clock ticking down in the third. Holy Cross pulled their goalie with three minutes left in regulation. With the extra skater advantage, Sirum was able to put the puck into the back of the net at 18:17 to tie the game up 1-1. She was assisted by sophomore forwards Alexia Moreau and Alexis Perry. Time expired and the Crusaders headed into their fourth straight overtime game. At the 2:40 mark, Sirum struck again burying the game winner to lead Holy Cross to their first win of the season 2-1 in overtime.She was assisted by Moreau and sophomore defenseman Casey Borgiel.

Holy Cross women's hockey (1-3-0, 0-0-0) returns to action Friday, Oct. 20 when they host Boston College (2-4-0, 2-0-0) in their conference opener at 7:00 p.m in the Hart Center Rink.
