Junior Cara McCormack of the Holy Cross women’s basketball team has been chosen as the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for January 16-January 22.
McCormack averaged 15.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 50% (10-of-20) from the floor and a sizzling 63.6% (7-of-11) from long range in a 2-0 week for the Crusaders. McCormack scored 10 points and grabbed a season-high six rebounds at Patriot League foe Colgate on Wednesday. She followed that up with a career-high 20 points, a personal-best five three-point conversions, three assists, and two steals versus Bucknell.
For the year, McCormack is third on the team in scoring (9.8), second in three-point conversions (22), second in three-point percentage (36.7%) and second in assists per game (2.3). Since returning from injury, Holy Cross is 11-1 when McCormack plays and 8-0 when she starts.
The Crusaders (16-3, 8-0 PL) travel to conference opponent Lehigh (9-10, 5-3) on Wednesday, Jan. 25 for a 6 p.m. showdown. Holy Cross will return home for the Crusader Legends Jersey retirement on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the Holy Cross Ticket Office.
