WORCESTER, Mass.— Senior Michael Pichay of the men's track and field team has been named the Crusader of the Week for competition from April 26-May 2. Pichay won gold at the Patriot League Championship with a mark of 15.19 meters.
At the Patriot League Championship on Saturday, May 1, Pichay jumped 15.19 meters in the triple jump to capture his first-ever Patriot League gold. His winning mark was slightly above the wind allowance, but he had another jump of 15.10 meters which broke his own school record, previously set at 14.95 meters.
Pichay's 15.19m jump is the best mark in the Patriot League this season. It also marks the first time a member of the Holy Cross men's track and field team has jumped over 15.00m in the triple jump.
Pichay helped the Crusaders finish fifth overall at the Patriot League Outdoor Championship, which is tied for the best finish in program history.
The Crusaders are back in action at the New England Outdoor Championship from May 14-15 and the ECAC Outdoor Championship from May 15-16.
