The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team will open up play in the Hockey East Tournament when it takes on New Hampshire in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 28. This will be the first time the Crusaders have ever played a home game in the Hockey East Tournament. Saturday's contest is set to begin at 2 p.m. live on ESPN+.
Holy Cross owns an overall mark of 18-12-3, and finished fourth in the Hockey East regular season standings with 37 points (10-11-3 record). Freshman forward
Violet Carroll currently leads the team in scoring with 25 points on nine goals and 16 assists. Freshman forward
Naemi Herzig has added seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points, while senior forward
Alexia Moreau has 20 points on 12 goals and eight assists. In net, senior goaltender
Abby Hornung stands 11-9-2 this season with a 1.60 goals against average and a .941 save percentage.
New Hampshire enters the weekend with an overall mark of 16-15-3, and finished fifth in the Hockey East regular season standings with 33 points (10-12-2 record). Freshman forward Nina Rossi leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points, while junior forward Danika Botterill has added 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists. Junior goaltender Sedona Blair stands 7-10-3 with a 2.27 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.
The winner of the Holy Cross-New Hampshire game will move on to play in the Hockey East semifinals on March 3.
