The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team returns home this week for its final game of the regular season. The Crusaders will play host to Vermont on Friday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. This will be Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day, in addition to serving as the Crusaders' Head Strong Dedication Game.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 18-11-3 with a 10-10-3 mark in Hockey East play. With a regulation victory over Vermont on Friday night, the Crusaders would clinch a top four finish in the conference and a home game in the Hockey East Tournament quarterfinals. Freshman forward
Violet Carroll currently leads the team in scoring with 25 points on nine goals and 16 assists. Senior forward
Alexia Moreau has added 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points, while senior forward
Lane Lewis has 19 points on five goals and 14 assists. In net, senior goaltender
Abby Hornung stands 11-8-1 this season with a 1.58 goals against average and a .940 save percentage.
Vermont enters the week with an overall record of 13-16-5 and a 7-11-4 mark in Hockey East. The Catamounts are 1-4-1 over their last six games, and are coming off a 3-2 setback against Merrimack on Sunday. Junior forward Stella Retrum leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points, while junior forward Rose-Marie Brochu has 21 points on seven goals and 14 assists. Freshman goaltender Zoe Cliche stands 9-4-2 with a 1.82 goals against average and an .929 save percentage.
After the game with Vermont, Holy Cross will open up play in the Hockey East Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 28.
