WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross men's ice hockey sophomore
Matt Kursonis was named Atlantic Hockey Forward of the Week and freshman
Danick Leroux was named Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday morning.
Kursonis finished the weekend split with Bentley with three points on a goal and two assists. Kursonis netted the Crusaders' first goal on Friday, before assisting on the first two goals on Saturday, including the eventual game-winner.
Kursonis' three points and +2 rating tied for second in the league last weekend, while his two assists tied for fourth.
Leroux bounced back after giving up three goals on Friday to hold first-place Bentley to a single goal on Saturday. Leroux recorded 32 saves in Friday's loss, finishing the night with .914 save percentage, before recording 29 saves in Saturday's win, with a 1.02 GAA and .967 SV%.
Leroux's 2.03 goals-against average last weekend ranked third and his .938 save percentage ranked second in the league among goalkeepers who played both games this weekend. Overall this season, Leroux's 2.51 goals-against average ranks seventh and his .912 save percentage ranks sixth in Atlantic Hockey.
Kursonis, Leroux and the Crusaders (13-13-2, 11-7-2 AHA) return to action on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. at Canisius.
