Men’s ice hockey to travel to Canisius

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team is set to travel to Buffalo, N.Y. to face Canisius on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. at the LECOM Harborcenter. Both games will be broadcast live on FloHockey.

THE CRUSADERS (13-13-2, 11-7-2 AHA):
  • Holy Cross enters the weekend set following a split with Bentley. The Crusaders fell on Friday at home, 4-2, before bouncing back with a 4-1 win on the road in Waltham.
  • Freshman Danick Leroux earned Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week honors after holding the first-place Falcons to four goals over the two nights. Leroux's 2.03 goals-against average on the  weekend ranked third and his .938 save percentage ranked second in the league among goalkeepers who played both games this weekend. Overall this season, Leroux's 2.51 goals-against average ranks seventh and his .912 save percentage ranks sixth in Atlantic Hockey.
  • Sophomore Matt Kursonis earned his first-career Forward of the Week honor after recording three points on a goal and two assists over the two games. Kursonis netted the Crusaders' first goal on Friday, before assisting on the first two goals on Saturday, including the eventual game-winner.
  • Kursonis' three points and +2 rating tied for second in the league last weekend, while his two assists tied for fourth.
  • Senior Matt DeBoer sits in a tie for seventh in the nation with four game-winning goals this season.
  • Junior Jack Stockfish was named a candidate for the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Stockfish enters the weekend with  22 points on nine goals and 13 assists. His 316 face-off wins this season sits in second in Atlantic Hockey and eighth in the nation, while his .591 success rate leads Atlantic Hockey.

SCOUTING CANISIUS (14-12-2, 9-9-2 AHA):
  • Canisius made the trip to Robert Morris last weekend, falling on both nights by 1-0 and 6-4 decisions.
  • The Golden Griffins ill finish out the regular season by playing five of their last six games at home. Canisius is 7-3-2 this season at the LECOM Harborcenter.
  • Canisius is led on offense by Grant Porter (9-17-26), Walter Zacher (15-6-21), and Oliver Tarr (8-9-17). Netminder Lukas Swedin has backstopped 15 of the Falcons' 26 games this season, posting a 2.10 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.

ALL TIME SERIES:
  • Holy Cross holds the all-time series lead at 41-29-13 since 1986, including a 37-27-13 in Division I play.
  • The two sides have played even since 2022-23, racking up a 4-4-2 record in the ten meetings.
  • The teams met for a two-game series in Worcester last February. Holy Cross took five of six possible points, taking game one in overtime, 3-2, and game two in regulation, 4-1.
