THE CRUSADERS (2-2-0, 0-0-0 AHA):
- Holy Cross traveled out to Arizona State last weekend, earning a series split with the Sun Devils.
- The Crusaders battled back both nights, scoring two goals in 11 seconds with less than two minutes remaining on Friday to earn a 2-1 win, and scoring in the final minute of all three periods on Saturday to force overtime, where they eventually fell, 5-4.
- Sophomore Danick Leroux was stellar in net on Friday, stopping 39 shots and allowing just one goal. Freshman Connor Towle made his collegiate debut on Saturday, recording 30 saves in the loss.
- Sophomore Quinn McCall earned his first career Atlantic Hockey weekly award following the weekend set, earning Defenseman of the Week honors.
- McCall scored the game-tying goal on Friday, sparking the comeback for the Crusaders with under two minutes to play, as he remained on the ice for the game-winning goal 11 seconds later. On Saturday, McCall sent a perfectly placed pass to junior Owen Kim who scored on the play to give Holy Cross the 2-1 lead in the second period. McCall led all skaters with four blocked shots in Friday's game, and finished with five on the weekend.
- Holy Cross enters the weekend ranked first in the nation in blocked shots with 88 through four games.
- Senior Will Elias leads the country individually with 18 blocks on the season, seven more than the next closest skater. McCall sits in a tie for seventh in nation with nine, and sophomore Anthony Biakabutuka, junior Noah Eyre, and senior Brody Gagno are tied for 12th with eight.
- Junior Matt Kursonis currently leads Atlantic Hockey with three goals on the young season, while Kim leads in assists with four. The pair of juniors are tied for the league-lead with five points.
SCOUTING ARMY (0-1-0, 0-0-0 AHA):
- Army began its season by hosting Union two weeks ago, taking a 4-2 loss, and hosting the Royal Military College of Canada for their annual exhibition game last weekend, a 6-1 win for the Black Knights.
- Army adds 12 freshman to the mix this season and returns 20 letter winners from last season.
- The Black Knights are led on offense by Preseason All-Atlantic Hockey pick forward Jack Ivey, and return starting netminder JJ Cataldo for his third season.
