WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross men's ice hockey junior
Matt Kursonis was named Atlantic Hockey Forward of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
Kursonis finished the Crusaders opening weekend set with Maine tied for the league lead in goals with two, and tacked on 22 faceoff wins, the second-most in the league so far.
Kursonis
scored the first goal of the season for Holy Cross on Friday night, picking up a deflected pass on the penalty kill and taking it the length of the ice for a shorthanded strike. On Saturday, Kursonis once again
scored the first goal of the game for the Crusaders, picking his corner for the 1-0 lead in the eventual 3-2 overtime win.
Kursonis was dominant at the faceoff dot on Saturday, leading both sides with 14 wins.
Holy Cross (1-1-0) will travel to Tempe, Ariz. for a two-game set at Arizona State on Friday, Oct. 9 at 9 p.m. ET, and Saturday, Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. ET.
