WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward
Liam McLinskey has been named a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston announced Thursday afternoon.
McLinskey is one of 26 total players named as a semi-finalist for the nation's oldest nationally recognized college hockey honor. The award dates back to 1953 and is presented annually to the best American-born Division I college hockey player in New England. The list includes 19 forwards, three defensemen, and four goaltenders, and includes four players from Atlantic Hockey. The award winner is set to be announced in the final week of March.
McLinskey leads the Crusaders and Atlantic Hockey and is second in New England with 17 goals this season, while his 30 points and 1.07 points per game places him third in the league. McLinskey has recorded nine multi-point efforts this season and has picked up at least a point in seven of the Crusaders' last nine games.
McLinskey and the Crusaders return to the ice on Friday, February 7, when they face RIT in Rochester, N.Y. at 7 p.m.
